next Sterilization Clinic IS November 22-25, 2025

We believe that every animal deserves a chance and we act on it by providing:
Each year JBARS aims to sterilize upwards of 1,500 animals during our bi-annual clinics and with local vets. This important work is possible with help from our amazing volunteers; generous supporters; expertise of Mexican & Canadian veterinarians, and with participation from the community. Our work is making a huge difference as the number of unwanted animals is decreasing in the area while the level of health is increasing.
In situations where animals are sick or injured, JBARS offers resources such as licensed medical care, diagnosis, x-rays or surgery where needed, along with medicine and other treatments. We also coordinate travel logistics and equipment such as crates, traps, leashes and collars for example. Sick or injured animals who are homeless often need foster care to facilitate recovery. In these cases we identify volunteers and prepare and assist during recovery.
There is nothing more satisfying for all of us at JBARS than to witness an animal transform from a sick, neglected, and unloved animal to a vibrant, happy animal filled with excitement and joy in anticipation of a new fur-ever family to love. From the first night that they can sleep with a full belly knowing they are safe, to the day they find their family, each journey is unique and special - it's a huge part of why we do what we do.
Providing animals with good food is one of the best ways to keep them healthy. JBARS works with the community to install feeding stations where they're needed most. In some cases, neighbors oversee care and filling independently. In severely marginalized neighborhoods or areas with a large stray population, we install and manage the stations. In all cases, the objective is to provide nutrition, attempt to rehome animals and balance responsibility for care.
JBARS strongly believes that managing a healthy animal population begins with education. As part of this philosophy, our volunteers visit schools to discuss the humane and ethical treatment of animals along with responsible care. This includes the need for sterilization, vaccination, and nutrition along with how to treat animals with compassion, care and respect. We also support all government initiatives in favor of animal rights protections.
From education & awareness to sterilizations and helping injured animals, JBARS volunteers rely on the kindness of our donors. For many people, a financial donation is one way to give back to the community. For others, it’s a contribution to help make the world a better place, or because they believe every animal deserves a chance. Whatever the reason, the generous donations we receive help us continue this important work.
Your donations make a huge impact in supporting JBay Animal Resources Society's mission. This includes providing free sterlization services, critical care, food and education. Please donate today or visit our volunteer section to see how you can support our mission in non-monetary ways.
