Inside a Sterilization Clinic
Hundreds of surgeries across four full days
Sterilization is at the heart of what we do. This includes two intensive four-day clinics held each November and March, where licensed veterinarians, technicians and volunteers work side-by-side to sterilize 500–750 animals. Additional sterilizations are performed throughout the year with help from local vets
Our clinics are offered free of charge to residents, who often begin lining up as early as 5:00 a.m. Volunteers also travel to rural communities to pick-up animals and help ensure our services reach the families who need them most.
None of this would be possible without the generosity of our supporters and volunteers. Every donation, every hour volunteered brings us closer to preventing needless suffering.

Transformations: from barely surviving to thriving
HOPE
Hope was surrendered to us by her owner who didn't have the means to help her. She was extremely emaciated, sick with erlichia and suffering from a horrendus skin infection. We honestly did't know if she would make it. But make it she did! With medical intervention and the love and support of her foster parents, Hope slowly improved. All the while her new mom waited patiently until Hope was well enough to travel. Today she is living the life of her dreams - and we couldn't be happier.
CHOCOLATEY
Abandoned on the street, Chocolatey developed a severe case of mange and erlichia. He suffered from painful open wounds and was getting weaker by the day from the blood infection. Some kind people in the neighborhood agreed to give him medication daily and walk him to his vet appointments regularly. Today, he calls that neighborhood home and the kind neighbors continue to watch over him and feed him.
ROCKY
Rocky was found hiding under a vehicle with severe injuries caused from neglect and a bacterial infection. We later learned that he was stolen from his owners and then left to for fend for himself on the street. With time, good food, medical intervention and lots of love, Rocky recovered beautifuly. And as luck would have it, his orginal owners were discovered several months later and a happy reunion took place.
MAX
A beautiful Border Collie mix, Max struggled with Mexico’s hot, humid weather. Wandering the streets, his health took a serious turn when complications from ehrlichia caused him to lose the use of his back legs. When we got Max to the vet, his blood counts were dangerously low and a transfusion was recommended. To make matters worse, his thick coat was badly matted and infested with fleas and ticks. With a much-needed haircut, homemade food, lots of love and plenty of vet care, Max slowly regained his strength and became the beautiful, lovable boy we knew was hiding underneath. Then came the best part: Max got a one-way ticket to Canada, where cooler temperatures, snow and a family to love were waiting. Atta boy, our smiling Max!
