We rely on our volunteers to help us make a difference in the lives of animals and their owners. As a volunteer, you can make a real impact by helping us with a variety of role from fundraising and event planning to helping at the clinic and fostering animals. The following positions are available (please email us at jbardonate@gmail.com if interested):
Clinic Staff
A number of different positions are available at our sterilization clinics from comforting animal in pre-op, working in recovery, cleaning kennels, or transporting animals. The clinics typical run over 4-5 day and flexible shifts are available and consist of half days or full days if desired. Training, lunch, snacks and required supplies are provided. 50/50 & Special Events
We are always looking for volunteers to support 50/50 draws in local restaurants, Bingo events and other special fundraising activities. The time commitment varies from 1-3 hours each week or per event and training is provided. All money raised is used for ongoing sterilization, education, food, and to assist injured and hurt animals.
Website/social media/video content builder
Volunteering as a social media assistant with JBAR is a great way to bring more attention to an important cause in addition to building work experience. As a social media/web content volunteer, you'll only work a few hours a week, but help us make a big impact. We currently need support with various projects associated with our Facebook page, website, newsletter and special events.
Fosters
JBAR is always in need of kind people willing to foster an animal as part of it's transition into a new life. If you have the space, time and patience needed to support an animal in this critical part of it's journey, then we need you. JBAR will support you every step of the way covering all medical, food, and other costs while you foster. For more information visit our FOSTER page.
Flight Angels
JBAR is always in need of flight angels to take our little critters to their furever families. Depending on size, animals travel in cabin or cargo (primarily November 1 - May 15). Very little effort is needed on your part as someone will meet you at the airport and take care of all departure paperwork requirements. At destination, the new owners will meet you at the airport to welcome their new fur baby home. Note that not all airlines accept animals for travel. Most major airlines do such as WestJet, Air Canada, Alaska Air, Southwest, and so on. The economy or 'no-frill' airlines typically DO NOT accept animals. If you are driving and will to take a passenger, we are certain to find a little buddy wanting to hitch a ride.
Driver
Transporting animals to and from clinics or vet visits is service JBAR occasionally offers to pet owners and fosters who have no transportation and unique circumstances. If you have a vehicle and some spare time each month, then we have a spot for you.
Community Outreach
If you love animals, working in the community, and have good Spanish skills, then we need you. This includes sharing information about upcoming sterilization clinics by distributing handbills and posters in local colonias. We also visit schools to share information on the humane and ethical treatment of animals along with responsible pet care. This includes the importance of sterilization, vaccination, and nutrition along with how to treat animals with compassion, care, and respect.
